It is Time to Nominate for the Honours Nomination 2027!

Department for Transport

10 Apr 2026

The deadline for nominations is Friday 10th April 2026

It is time to nominate! DfT are now launching the New Years 2027 honours round. The deadline for nominations is close Friday 10th April 2026. We were very proud of our very own RUI leadership members Carter Goodby and Sonia Hazel who were awarded BEM’s in this year’s honours round. Please do nominate so that more of our brilliant colleagues across the industry can be recognised.

  • Do you know someone who has gone above and beyond and whose achievements merit recognition?

  • Is there someone who has made a long-lasting and significant impact on those around them?

  • Do you know someone who has selflessly worked to improve the lives of others?

Then please take the time to nominate these exceptional people for an honour, by completing this form: https://www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/A2GDCD/. This replaces the word document form that we asked nominators to complete in previous years, and asks for very similar information. If you have any issues with the new form, please email - DfTHonours@dft.gov.uk

Things to know

  • Please carefully read the attached guide to nominating, as it contains the information you will need to nominate.

  • Please make sure you adhere to the set criteria. In particular regarding the long citation, which has a 2700-character limit, including spaces. This limit also includes any charitable and voluntary activity, and we recommend you separate out the charity work from the day job, if applicable.

  • We recommend drafting the long citation in a word document before completing the form to allow for easy editing, and make sure that all the personal information is at hand, as forms missing the information below will be returned.

  • Full name

  • Date of Birth

  • Telephone number or email address (at least one must be provided, but both is better!)

  • The short citation

  • The long citation

  • Fill in your nomination well in advance of the nomination deadline. This will avoid delays and missing the deadline. It also allows us to pick up any issues for correction before the deadline.

Attached is guidance which highlights the Department and Prime Minister’s honours priorities, including an indication of which areas tend to see successful nominations. If you are not sure where to start, please read page 5 in the ‘Guide to nominating for an honour’ and contact us if you have any questions.

Please go to https://www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/A2GDCD/ to complete your nomination/s.

Finally, we ask you to consider a wide a range of individuals within your organisations for Honours. This includes all levels, grades or the fields of work. We are always particularly pleased to see nominations for under-represented groups, such as women and ethnic minorities.

Please feel free to forward this to anyone you think may be interested in nominating.

In case useful to note, the deadline for the next round (Birthday 2027) will be 11th September 2026.
