Women in Rail Awards 2025

Women in Rail

29 May 2025

Rail Unites for Inclusion was shortlisted for the EDI team award at the Women in Rail awards 2025. Our Co-Chairs Apeksha Naik and Odis Palmer celebrate being shortlisted with one of RUI’s 3 Co-Sponsors, Navleen Kalra, Director of People, Transformation and EDI, Network Rail

“Are women represented? And if not, why not?" Those words spoken with passion and clarity by Laura Shoaf, CBE at this year’s Women in Rail Awards have stayed with many of us. Laura’s call to challenge the status quo – to support one another, to hire and promote more women, to truly look around the rooms we’re in – was a defining moment of the evening. She reminded us that inclusion isn’t a nice-to-have; it’s an imperative. The privilege we have in shaping the future of rail must come with accountability.

The Women in Rail Awards are always a powerful reminder of the excellence, energy, and impact of the women and allies shaping the future of our industry. Thanks to all our sponsors for making this event possible, and to every one of our speakers who brought such authenticity and power to the room.

To every shortlisted nominee, winner and highly commended – congratulations! Your achievements are an inspiration, and it was a privilege to celebrate your success. To my fellow Women in Rail trustees – thank you. Your dedication is instrumental to the work we do and the progress we’re making together."
